Ronald T.Y. Moon Judiciary Complex

RONALD T.Y. MOON JUDICIARY COMPLEX

The Ronald T.Y. Moon Judiciary Complex in Kapolei, Hawaii is a four-story, 126,215 square foot court center building which houses the First Circuit Family Court and other judiciary functions. It is one of three structures in a $115 million complex.

The project consists of 620 architectural cladding columns, walls and decorative spandrels. The precast contains extremely intricate native Hawaiian cultural symbols. These include engraved dots representing the five actual constellations used to navigate by ancient Polynesian voyagers. The engraving also includes horizontal and vertical lines representing fields of taro. Villages of people are represented by groupings of triangles. A central river flows into the ocean dividing the villages and taro fields on both the top and bottom of some feature panels.
